The #1 Beginner Trim Mistake & How to Avoid It / How to Measure & Cut Mitered Corners
Переглядів 87 тис.Рік тому
This is how you measure and cut inside and outside miter angles for trim, baseboard, crown molding, or anything else that needs an angle bisected and then calculated for a miter saw or a miter gauge on a table saw. Measure the angle with an angle finder or protractor. Subtract that number from 180. Then divide the number that you get by two. The number you are left with is what you set your saw...

2 Easy Ways to Make Extreme Miter Cuts
Переглядів 168 тис.Рік тому
How do you cut miters greater than 45 degrees? Most miter saws max out somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees. If you want to make a cut greater than that, you're going to have to make an auxiliary fence that changes the angle that the back of your workpiece references from. This is super easy, and today I show you two ways to easily achieve the seemingly impossible task of cutting extreme angles....

One of the most nit picking and biased reviews I've seen in a long time! Always looking for an issue where in reality, none exists if the user uses a slightly different technique. . I make no wonder that he doesn't state prices as the Woodpeckers is 4 times the cost of the Drillpro. Clearly a sales pitch for the overpriced US version.

A recent issue I am having is with material thickness of hardwood bought at the big box stores. As I buy a stack of poplar for example thickness of all the boards does not match and I have to thickness plane down to the dimension of the thinnest board. If I don’t do this these clamps touch the thickest board and not the thinnest so the glue up is unacceptable.

Maybe you should rename this “Marking knives ALWAYS prevent joinery gaps… when used correctly.” The first 2/3rds of the video I was thinking “why is he using the knife wrong?”; only in the last third when you did correctly position the bevel on the waste side did the penny drop. However; I feel this is aimed at the very small percentage of woodworkers who can’t fathom the concept of putting the bevel on the waste side. The only reason I even clicked on this video was because of the title; my initial thoughts were “WTF is this crap? Knife lines will ALWAYS be accurate…” because I know how to use one. At the end of the videos you almost show how to do it properly… pro tip put wood against square, remove wood and mark against square blade. Replace wood, move square to other side, remove wood, mark against square blade. This would have been better approached from the other perspective; FIRST show how to mark out with a knife properly and then show why you DON’T just knife both sides of the wood. Incidentally I am a hand tool woodworker; I knife my lines and cut to them accurately using planes and/or chisels. Machine tools are just for roughing out so pencil lines are good enough for that.

A lot more precise than the similar method of marking both pieces and cutting. At least if there is a slight mistake in this more detailed version, the second cut will still match as the first cut is used as a fence.

Hi! I learned how to do this style of wood burning from you a while ago on another profile I had but I remembered you so I had a question. I've been doing the inspired sho sugi ban burn for a few months. But so I engrave names into my wood before I torch it right. But I was wondering if there was a way to not burn the engraved part when I'm torching the wood around it? Like maybe some type of lotion or something I can put on the engraved part to keep it from burning so I don't have to go back over it with my router after I burn it?
